We all have that everyday fall back piece of clothing we rely on time and time again, don’t we? Have you ever looked at what it is about that garment you love so much? Is it the comfort factor, the easy styling essence or the practicality of this essential to your day to day life?
Since lock down came into place, it seems as though we have reviewed our wardrobe contents and questioned the likelihood of wearing previous purchases now our shopping habits are changing. Wearing a piece across multiple outfits and buying something you can wear in reflection of your style is now encouraging us to prolong the lifetime of our purchases.
As mentioned in one of our previous posts, ‘seasonless’ is becoming more and more popular, both on the catwalks and in our wardrobes.
So, with that in mind, how do you find that everyday piece to suit your lifestyle?
I connected with Emma from Socko Shop following the launch of her recent book, ‘How to Quit Fast Fashion’, to gain her perspective on what this was about, how to portray the personality behind our products and the benefit to owning an everyday essential. Quite a lot rose to the surface in our chat including the inspiration behind h.huna, aka my Nan, and how she valued the lifetime potential of every piece she owned, plus the incredible darning workshops Emma runs to extend the active life of clothing. Check it out.
